WASHINGTON - The United States seeks cooperation with China where it can but also expects Beijing to live up to its commitments, the State Department spokesman said on Thursday (June 4).

"We've always called for cooperation. We've always tried to find areas in which our interests intersect where we can work together. Unfortunately, what we continue to see, especially under General Secretary Xi (Jinping), is a pattern of China not keeping their word, of a lot of empty and broken promises," said Ms Morgan Ortagus in a phone interview with The Straits Times about US-China relations.
