When an employer guarantees to underwrite the medical treatment costs of a foreign worker, it does not mean the worker is not liable to pay the bills, a district court has ruled.
The court said the letters of guarantee provided to two hospitals by Newtec Engineering, the employer of an injured worker, gave the hospitals the option of looking to Newtec for the costs of treating the worker.
