Already chilly cross-strait ties have worsened with the coronavirus outbreak as mistrust between Beijing and Taipei has led to acrimony in the handling of the crisis.
The two sides have been unable to agree on evacuation procedures, leaving several hundred Taiwanese still stranded in the epicentre of the disease outbreak, the central Chinese city of Wuhan. A war of words between the two sides was accompanied by the roar of fighter jets over the Taiwan Strait recently.
