SINGAPORE - When people get older, their body needs fewer calories following a decrease in lean muscle mass and a drop in basal metabolism. But that does not mean there is a reduction in their nutritional requirements, said Dr Adriel Rao Kailing, medical director at Active Global Caregivers, which offers home-based eldercare services.
