In the early 1990s, when I was a young plastic surgeon at the Singapore General Hospital, my greatest joy was having my own operating list in the Day Surgery Minor Theatre. It meant that I could operate on patients away from the watchful eyes of our seniors who were doing far more important procedures in the Major Theatres.
There, in the Minor Theatre, was where I started to dabble with simple cosmetic operations such as the creation of double eyelids, eyebag removal, nose augmentations and a variety of laser procedures.
