Disney's live-action remake of its animated classic Mulan is a timeless tale of devotion to country and family, and a good representation of what these values mean in Chinese culture, say stars Liu Yifei and Jet Li.

Yet they believe the film, which opens in theatres in Singapore tomorrow, also tips its hat to more Western, individualistic ideas about authenticity, empowerment and being true to oneself.
