SINGAPORE – Technology sector executive Sahil Tapiawala quickly picked up a wealth of finance experience at just 12 years old when he asked his dad for a new bicycle.

That seemingly simple request sparked a learning process that has stayed with the 29-year-old to this day, although the bike is long gone.
